Republic Bank Ghana Limited was incorporated on May 7, 1990, as a private limited liability company. It initially operated as a mortgage financing institution and commenced business on December 2, 1991.
On August 1, 1994, it was licensed by the Bank of Ghana as a non-bank financial institution. Universal banking status was granted on November 17, 2003.
The bank was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange on March 17, 1995. On May 13, 2015, it received regulatory approval to become a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited and a member of the Republic Bank Group.
