PROTOA accuses NRSC for negligence on our roads leading to increased road accidents

The central regional chairman of the Private Road Transport Operators Association (PROTOA), Mr Yaw Fire, has heavily criticised the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) for being the cause of numerous accidents on our roads in the country.

According to him, the NRSC has forgotten their core mandate of increasing the sensitization and education of road safety methods and measures and are now focusing on accidents and their causes.

Mr Fire said that, the NRSC have appointed a ‘so called’ ambassador whose job now is to comment on accidents that happens on our road when lives have already been lost instead of intensifying Road safety education.

He said officials of the Road Safety should stop sitting in air conditions at their offices and go to the grounds especially the villages to embark on their core mandate.

He made this known when PROTOA inaugurated a new lorry station which will take passengers to Aflao, Elubo, Takyiman, sogakopke and other long journeys, in Agona Swedru.

He therefore called on the Minister of Transport and other stakeholders to ensure that the NRSC is up to task and deliver creditably to resolve the spate of road accidents in our country.
